The display of the CX-1 supersonic anti-ship missile model is considered a “great trick” that China has given to India.
At the 2014 Zhuhai Airshow, China caused a great shock to observers when displaying a model of a supersonic anti-ship cruise missile with the designation CX-1 with the same appearance as the Yakhont/ BrahMos supersonic antiship missile.
It should be noted that in order to create a balance in the region, Russia has exclusively sold China P-270 Moskit missiles without agreeing to supply the P-800 Yakhont type, and then cooperated with India to built a version of the PJ-10 BrahMos that is a copy of the Yakhont.

So when the CX-1 missile was introduced by China and appeared at the exhibition, and at the same time it was displayed just a few booths from the PJ-10 BrahMos missile, the Indian side was extremely angry when it said silently overtaken by Russia.
Before India’s reaction, Mr. Vassily Kashin – an expert at the Center for Analysis of Strategy and Technology based in Moscow had to immediately explain to reassure the No. 1 partner in defense. According to Kashin, China’s CX-1 is only partly based on the Yakhont anti-ship missile and asserted: “Russia does not sell this missile to China or provide enough technical data for China to build. “.
Mr. Kashin’s reassurance may reassure India somewhat, but it is unlikely that New Delhi’s potential partners who intend to order BrahMos missiles feel secure.
The reason is because India fear that Beijing has somehow stolen the technology of the Yakhont missile, making the advantage of secrecy in the tactical performance of this weapon no longer available.

As if adding fuel to the fire, China also claims the CX-1 will be the main weapon for the most powerful destroyers of its navy in the future, including the modernized Sovremenny, the Type 052C, or even both Type 052D.
However, after the noisy launch mentioned above, the CX-1 was almost forgotten and disappeared quietly, there is no information that it has been completed to put into combat.
The ships mentioned as the CX-1 equipped platform also carry other weapons, which are YJ-12A for Sovremenny upgrade, YJ-62 equipped for Type 052C, and Type 052D successfully test-fired YJ- 18 (copy of 3M-54E Kalibr).
This led military analysts to conclude that the Chinese side applied their famous diversionary method, deliberately bringing to the exhibition a bogus weapon.
The above action is intended to confuse the biggest rival in the Asia-Pacific, India, and at the same time make the ally of the South Asian country suspicious, leading to delay, even cancellation buy BrahMos missiles.
In fact, after the aforementioned event for quite a long time, India has missed many BrahMos missile export contracts for very mysterious reasons, when customers suddenly showed a lack of interest even before. very eager to buy.
The above fact may need to be included in military textbooks to teach the art of diversion in the modern era
