Recently, India and Vietnam signed an agreement through which the two sides can now use military bases of each other to facilitate maintenance and supply of ships and aircrafts. Vietnam-India cooperation has been increased again, Vietnam can obtain more Indian military technology, and India can also make use of Vietnam to take control of the Pacific Ocean. India’s ambitions are extremely large, reaching out to the Pacific Ocean, and Vietnam will help India achieve its dream of becoming a world power.
The military cooperation between Vietnam and India actually started long time ago. Counting the cooperation between the two countries, in fact, from the very beginning, Vietnam was asking help from India. Regardless of the many accidents such as submarine explosions and fighter planes crashing in India, India’s military technology level is still much higher than Vietnam’s. Relatively speaking, India also has a good military industrial system, and basically has all the military weapons that it should have, but Vietnam does not have this power, and must import some military weapons and technologies from India to modernize its military.
Although both countries mainly import weapons and military equipments from Russia, relatively speaking, Vietnam’s economic development level is still incomparable to India’s. Therefore, Vietnam still needs to find a relatively affordable partner for some relatively less high-end military equipments. In this regard, India is a very suitable partner.
India has developed a large number and types of weapons and military equipments. For example, its self-developed Tejas fighter has been in service gradually from the beginning to today, and it has been 40 years. However, India can be considered to have completed the process from scratch. On the other hand, Vietnam does not have these technologies. If you want to have these fighters, you can only rely on buying them. And Russian fighter jets are so expensive, tens of millions of dollars at every turn, and Vietnam can’t afford them at all. Although the Indian Tejas is not a cheap fighter, judging from the relationship between the two countries, if Vietnam wants to import it, the price can definitely be reduced by India.
Coupled with the fact that India has good military weapons maintenance technology, and it has formed a system by itself. Excluding the fact that the planes repaired by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited crash a lot, in fact, the logistics maintenance technology of the Indian military is quite perfect. More importantly, the military technology of both sides basically belongs to Russia. Therefore, almost all Vietnamese military weapons can be repaired by Indian logistics. Compared with the Russian side who came to repair it in person, the Indians naturally have more advantages in terms of price, etc
,because the Vietnamese do not want Russian service as it is expensive.
Especially in the current situation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, although India is not afraid of the threat of the United States (to support Ukraine) and continues to maintain contact with both Russia and Ukraine, but Vietnam cannot, because the threat of the United States is very serious, and it dare not get too close to Russia. Therefore, in terms of the import of weapons and equipments, as well as logistical support, India is naturally the first choice for help. Therefore, Vietnam’s dependence on India will now become more stronger and larger.
With the help of Vietnam, India can deploy its warships to the port of Nha Trang to gain a sense of military presence in the Pacific Ocean. From this point of view, India’s ambitions can be said to have expanded dramatically, and it has begun to encroach on the former sphere of influence of the US military. This is not good news for Americans. According to the relationship between India and Russia, as well as the India’s rather independent style. The cooperation between India and Vietnam will also affect the handling of the South China Sea issue, which is also not very good news for China.
