Turkish Military industries has been continuously making good progress in the field of armed drones and precision-guided munitions. Today we will have a short discussion about a new Turkish Anti-tank weapon.
The Karaok or Black Arrow is a 125 mm man-portable , lightweight, fire-and-forget, short-range anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) in development by Roketsan. Roketsan is a large turkish weapons manufacturer and defense contractor based in Ankara.
This missile is equipped with a tandem warhead and a new indigenously developed hybrid dual-stage rocket motor designed to enable fire from an enclosed space.
The effective firing range of the missile is 2,500 meters. The missile is capable of performing both direct and top attack. The missile system is equipped with Imaging Infrared Seeker which allows the missile to perform well in both day and night conditions.
The Missile has the weight of 16 kg which includes the weight of both the missile and launcher. The weapon has the length of 110 cm (43 in) and diameter of 125 mm (4.9 in). The tandem-warhead of the missile helps it to effectively defeat or penetrate reactive armour plates of armoured vehicles. The missile will be inducted into active service with the Turkish Armed Forces in the end of 2022.
