Ukraine struck the Black Sea Fleet’s headquarters in Sevastopol with UAVs

A day after explosions occurred near military sites in Russia and in Ukrainian territory that was under Russian control, Russia claimed more Ukrainian drone attacks on Friday night, seemingly demonstrating Kiev’s growing capacity to batter Moscow’s assets far from the front lines.

The most recent events came after big explosions at an air base in Crimea that Russia had occupied last week. According to a recent assessment by a Western official, that incident instantly rendered worthless half of Russia’s Black Sea naval aviation force.

Many social account users reported fresh Ukrainian drone attacks on Friday evening, a day after explosions erupted near military bases in Russian-held areas of Ukraine and Russia itself, apparent displays of Kyiv’s growing ability to pummel Moscow’s assets far from front lines.

The latest incidents followed huge blasts at Russian Navy black sea fleet. In a new assessment, a Western official said that incident had rendered half of Russia’s Black Sea naval aviation force useless in a stroke.

Russia’s RIA and Tass news agencies, citing a local official in Crimea, said it appeared Russian anti-aircraft forces had been in action near the western Crimean port of Yevpatoriya on Friday night. Video posted by a Russian website showed what appeared to be a ground-to-air missile hitting a target. Reuters was unable immediately to confirm the video’s veracity.

Tass cited a local official as saying Russian anti-aircraft forces knocked down six Ukrainian drones sent to attack the town of Nova Kakhovka, east of the city of Kherson. Ukraine says retaking Kherson is one of its main priorities.

Another video shows the confrontation between Russian anti-aircraft guns and Ukrainian drones in Sevastopol. After air defense systems again worked in Sevastopol late at night, residents of Crimea managed to film a long confrontation between a drone and air defense systems. The confrontation lasted several minutes, with about a hundred shells allegedly fired at the drone, but the latter was able to dodge them.

On the presented video frames, you can see the moment of confrontation between an unmanned aerial vehicle and an anti-aircraft gun of an unknown type. The latter fires about a hundred rounds of ammunition at the drone, carrying out single shots, however, apparently, the drone maneuvered quite well, since it could not be shot down for a long time. Apparently, the drone was at a very high altitude, which indicates the fact that this is not a commercial drone, although this does not reveal the type of drone.
