Yesterday night, Azerbaijan attacked the territory of Armenia. Azerbaijan strikes on the territory of Armenia for more than 7 hours
Around midnight, artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces attacked settlements bordering Armenia. The attack, according to the Azerbaijani side, occurred after Armenia staged a provocation and began to pull military equipment into the regions bordering Azerbaijan.
Armenia and Azerbaijan have reported new border clashes that left an unknown number of Azerbaijani troops dead. The fighting, which broke out early on Tuesday, marks the latest flare-up between the arch foes, who fought a war in 2020 over the contested Nagorno-Karabakh region.
According to the official data of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, positions located in Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, and Ishakhanasar were subjected to shelling. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia completely refutes the information that the Armenian servicemen were the first to attack the territory of Azerbaijan.

“After midnight on September 13, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire from artillery pieces, mortars and UAVs opened intense fire on Armenian positions located in several directions of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border at once. The positions located in Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Ishakhanasar were subjected to shelling. Attacks are also being made on civilian infrastructure. The units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia are fully fulfilling the tasks assigned to them ,” the official statement of the defense department of the Republic of Armenia says.
However, Azerbaijan holds a completely different position, noting that it was Yerevan that showed aggression, noting that the Armenian military staged a sabotage on the territory of Azerbaijan by mining the territory.
“On the night of September 12, units of the Armenian armed forces carried out a large-scale provocation in the Dashkesan, Kalbajar and Lachin directions of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border. At night, the sabotage groups of the Armenian armed forces, using the mountainous terrain and gorges, carried out mining in various directions of the territories between the positions of the units of the Azerbaijan Army and supply routes. As a result of urgent measures taken by our units in order to prevent these actions, a clash occurred ,” the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.
At the moment, it is known that both the Azerbaijani and the Armenian sides have losses – both replenishable and non-replaceable.
It is known that the initial attempts to stabilize the situation in the region were unsuccessful.
The CSTO, in connection with the conflict, has not yet commented on the situation, however, if the information that Azerbaijan was the first to attack Armenia is confirmed, the CSTO forces may well intervene in the situation.
