The United States has provided Additional assistance in the form of security funding of over $3 billion for Ukraine.

The Defense Department (DoD) announced today that the Biden Administration would provide an additional $3.075 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.

The Department of State has announced $225 million in Foreign Military Financing to contribute to Ukraine’s long-term capacity and modernization of the country’s armed forces, and the President has authorized a Presidential Drawdown of security assistance worth up to $2.85 billion to meet the country’s critical security and defense needs.

This is the twenty-ninth such drawdown of equipment from DoD inventory authorized by the Biden Administration since August 2021, and it is being carried out under the Presidential Drawdown. These features are included in the package:

  • 50 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles with 500 TOW anti-tank missiles and 250,000 rounds of 25mm ammunition;
  • 100 M113 Armored Personnel Carriers;
  • 55 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs);

  • 70,000 155mm artillery rounds;
  • 500 precision-guided 155mm artillery rounds;
  • 1,200 155mm rounds of Remote Anti-Armor Mine (RAAM) Systems;

  • 10,000 120mm mortar rounds;
  • Additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);
  • RIM-7 missiles for air defense;
  • 4,000 Zuni aircraft rockets;
  • Approximately 2,000 anti-armor rockets;
  • Sniper rifles, machine guns, and ammunition for grenade launchers and small arms;
  • Claymore anti-personnel munitions;
  • Night vision devices and optics;
  • Spare parts and other field equipment.

Germany and France have recently committed several combat vehicles to Ukraine, and these Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and other armored vehicles and artillery systems are a welcome addition.

The Department of Defense (DoD) applauds Germany’s decision to supply Ukraine with one Patriot air defense battery, joining the United States in meeting Ukraine’s urgent need for air defense capabilities.

For as long as it takes, the Biden administration will lobby for additional air defense systems, artillery, combat vehicles, and other essential capabilities to help Ukraine protect its independence and territory.

Foreign Military Financing for $682 million was announced today by the Department of State to encourage and supplement gifts of military equipment to Ukraine by Allies and partners.

Since the beginning of the Biden Administration, the United States has pledged almost $24.9 billion in security aid to Ukraine. Ukraine has received over $27 billion in security aid from the United States since 2014, including over $24.2 billion since Russia’s unwarranted and barbaric invasion on February 24.
