Kyiv is under a missile attack.

Ukrainian officials said that much infrastructure in the capital, Kyiv, was hit by rockets, but the damage’s extent was unclear.

Deputy Chief of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko said today that much critical infrastructure in the capital, Kyiv, is under missile attack, and authorities are clarifying the information.

Kyiv mayor Vitaly Klitschko reported explosions in the inner city’s Dniprovsky district, while witnesses heard explosions before the sirens were activated. Residents of the Ukrainian capital are advised to seek shelter. The Russian Defense Ministry has not commented on the information.

From October 2022, Russia began attacking Ukraine’s energy and military infrastructure, intending to weaken its combat strength and force Kyiv to the negotiating table. Nearly half of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged after months of Russian raids, leaving people without electricity and heating for hours in sub-zero weather.

Ukraine says attacks on infrastructure are “war crimes,” accusing Russia of intentionally harming civilians and breaking its will. Meanwhile, Moscow explained that it targeted Ukrainian infrastructure to disrupt the flow of American and allied weapons to Kyiv.
