The United States announced the delivery of additional HIMARS systems to Ukraine.
White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said the United States has decided to transfer additional HIMARS missile systems to Ukraine.
This happened literally 72 hours after the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the help of these weapons, struck at the point of temporary deployment of the Russian military in Makiivka.
The exact number of HIMARS installations transferred to Ukraine is not called. However, we are probably talking about 4 systems, which will officially increase the number of such weapons in Ukraine to 24 units (unofficial deliveries of more weapons are also possible).
Official deliveries of such systems to Ukraine are expected to be announced in the coming weeks or even days; however, the fact that the United States is purposefully transferring heavy long-range weapons to Ukraine indicates that Washington is interested in continuing the escalation.
According to the official data of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, during the NMD in Ukraine, 30 HIMARS installations were hit and destroyed (23 installations in 2022 and 7 installations from the beginning of 2023) and 17 MLRS installations.
HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a lightweight multiple rocket launcher system designed to be highly mobile and capable of firing various rockets and missiles. Several countries worldwide, including the United States and Ukraine, use it.
