The Derya ZY9 is a range of semi-automatic personal defence guns manufactured by the Turkish manufacturer Derya Arms. While the business is best renowned for its large array of tactical, defensive, hunting, and sports shotguns, the Derya ZY9 is a sleek and dependable collection of 9mm Luger-caliber handguns.
These guns are robustly built, lightweight, and extremely functional, making them perfect for personal defence, home and property protection, and duty use, notably by private security personnel. Introduction
The Derya ZY9 is a tactical firearm designed for close-quarters warfare. It is effective and comfortable to use due to its ergonomic design and small weight. The Derya ZY9 has an effective range of 100 meters with a 5.9-inch barrel and 200 meters with a 10-inch barrel and fires 800 rounds per minute.
Notably, regardless of the availability of a stock, the Derya ZY9 line would be considered handguns in most of Europe. This is because the ratio of barrel length to overall length determines the distinction between a pistol and a rifle.
In contrast, the United States only classifies the baseline Derya ZY9 B6 as a pistol. The other variations are categorized as Short Barrel Rifles (SBRs) and are subject to NFA (National Firearms Act) requirements.
Design
The Derya ZY9 series is a collection of semiautomatic rifles of superior quality. These weapons are constructed with a hard-anodized, black lightweight aluminum alloy upper and lower receiver and are available in two distinct barrel lengths of either 15 cm / 5.9″ or 25 cm / 10″. The firearms are interchangeable with 9mm Luger Glock magazines of any make or capacity, hence enhancing their versatility.
The Derya ZY9 series includes a basic straight blowback functioning method, providing an optimal combination of simplicity, dependability, ease of use, and maintenance.
The rifles have a 22mm Picatinny rail, enabling for the attachment of a variety of accessories, as well as a collapsible mechanical visor and an adjustable stock. The M-LOK handguard and control layout reminiscent of the AR-15 contribute to the weapon’s versatility.
With a weight ranging from 1.8 to 2 kg (3.9 to 4.4 lbs.), depending on the configuration, all entries in the Derya ZY9 family of weapons field-strip just like an AR-15. These weapons come with an AR-15 compatible grip and can be modified with an M4-type buffer tube and collapsible buttstock.
In addition, the factory equips each model with a full-length MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for optics and a set of detachable polymer flip-up sights.
Variants
There are now four Derya ZY9 models, each with distinctive characteristics. The Derya ZY9 B6 semi-automatic handgun comes with a rear screw-on cover and a sling swivel, while the Derya ZY9 B6-10 AD short-barrel rifle incorporates a PDW-type completely collapsible buttstock.
The Derya ZY9 B6-10 AR short-barrel rifle has a 6-position telescopic buttstock installed on an M4-type buffer tube, and the Derya ZY9 B6-10 CH short-barrel rifle is essentially identical to the B6-10 AR model but features an AR-15 type charging handle instead of a side-mounted cocking handle, as used by all the other entries in the line.
The Derya ZY9 B6 is also available in a submachine gun version for military, law enforcement, and government users, offering a cyclic rate of 800 rounds per minute in full-automatic fire.
