Berlin confirmed its readiness to supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks.
The head of the German Ministry of Economy officially announced that Germany would be ready to provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks. The statement was made against the backdrop of conflicting reports that Berlin had not yet made a final decision on the supply; however, from the statement of the head of the German Ministry of Economics, it follows that the supply will be, although a specific date in Germany has not yet been named.
The supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine could lead to an extremely serious escalation. At the moment, Germany has the ability to transfer up to 110 tanks to Ukraine. Although it is more than likely that the number of delivered tanks will be significantly lower, this may lead to other countries, such as Finland, which intends to transfer all 100 tanks to Ukraine Leopard 2A4 in her storage.
At the same time, there is a fairly high probability that Germany will provide its Leopard 2 tanks to Poland in exchange for the supply of T-72 tanks for Ukraine, which is more acceptable for Kyiv due to the presence of a large amount of ammunition and the absence of the need to train specialists for work.
Experts, in turn, note that by the summer, Ukraine could receive a very large number of tanks from NATO countries, which could lead to increased clashes, especially against the background of reports that army corps are being formed in Ukraine with a total number of 75 thousand people.
