NATO held a “decisive” meeting to support Ukraine with weapons, and Germany announced its position on providing fighter jets

On 13 February, Germany announced its position on the possibility of supplying Kyiv with fighter jets. On the other hand, the NATO group is about to hold an important meeting in Brussels to discuss military support for Ukraine.

German Foreign Minister Annalene Berberke confirmed that it is currently impossible for the German government to supply Ukraine with combat aircraft.

The statements were sent to the Green Party politician in the Finnish capital Helsinki on the evening of the 13th, ahead of Western consultations on supplying Ukraine with more weapons.

It is worth noting that, within the framework of the so-called “Ramstein” program, a new meeting of defense ministers and military officials of Western countries was held in Brussels on February 14. And Ukrainian Defense Minister Kirillo Budanov is expected to attend the meeting.

Germany is trying to form an alliance to supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 battle tanks. Therefore, the German government has promised to provide Kyiv with 14 such tanks.

On the other hand, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said after meeting Belberk that his country’s government had not yet decided whether to join the Tank League.

Bell Burke reiterated that it is important for them to successfully supply such heavy weapons through cooperation with other countries.

Many NATO countries and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg have stated that they have no objection to providing fighter jets to Ukraine. This may be before the Brussels meeting on the 14th.
