Russian Su-27 chase French Mirage 2000s over the Black Sea

Two Russian Su-27 fighters have successfully repelled two French Air Force Mirage 2000 fighters over the Black Sea.

The incident took place on February 17, the air defense force of the Russian Southern Military Region detected three strange aircraft in the Black Sea flying straight in the direction of Russian airspace. Immediately, two Su-27 fighters carrying R-27 air-to-air missiles received command to stop.

After the Su-27 issued a warning signal and leaned to show off the weapon under the abdomen, all three planes changed course and left the direction of Russian airspace. The published images show that each Su-27 fighter carries at least 4 R-27 missile rounds (version unknown).When approaching at a fighter distance, three aircraft belonging to the French Air Force were discovered. In the ddos ​​were two Mirage 2000 fighters flying with a KS-135 tanker.

Whether the original or an upgraded version, this missile is still very dangerous. The R-27 (AA-10 Alamo) is a medium-range air-to-air missile that officially entered service in 1990 to equip all MiG and Su series fighters in the Russian Air Force.

At the time of its inception, the R-27 was part of the MiG-29 and Su-27 fighter configuration, and its specifications exceeded the American AIM-7M Sparrow series of missiles.

Design work for the R-27 began in 1962, but to complete and mass production it would take until 1983. Currently there are more than 25 countries in the world operating the R-27 missile.

R-27 missiles are used to strike targets such as airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, and unmanned aircraft (UAVs) in all weather conditions, day and night.

The design of the R-27 is essentially nothing more than a circular cylinder, the modular design allows for the integration of different propulsion or propulsion systems.

All versions of the R-27 missile have a 39 kg detonator that can be activated by radar or contact. In addition, the R-27 medium-to-air missile is equipped with aerodynamic blades to ensure stable flight, the R-27’s design makes the missile maneuverable with dark capacity. up to 8G.
