The Russian Ministry of Defense purchased 10 S-500 Prometey

The Russian Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with Almaz-Antey for the supply of more than 10 Prometey systems to the Aerospace Forces. Deliveries will begin in the first half of 2022.

A source familiar with the matter said on July 29 that the Russian Defense Ministry and the Almaz-Antey air defense industry group signed a contract to supply the first 10 S-500 Prometey air defense missile systems to the Air Force. Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS).

The source revealed: “The Russian Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with Almaz-Antey for the supply of more than 10 Prometey systems to the Aerospace Forces. Deliveries will begin in the first half of 2022.”

According to the source, the testing phase of the system is still ongoing at one of the training ranges in southern Russia.

The source claims that Prometey can destroy all existing offensive weapons, air and space.

The land-based version of the S-500 is undergoing state testing. If needed, the system can be turned into a battleship outfit.

In early July, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the test launch of an anti-aircraft guided missile had been successful.

Sergei Babakov, commander of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Russian Aerospace Forces , noted that the S-500 is expected to enter the Russian military service.
